Remove the top of
the printer case.
There are 7 plastic
clips which hold the top cover in place
1 on each end
2 on the back
3 on the front
The order of releasing
these is important and they tend to snap back into place as you move on
to release the next.
Start by looking at
the end of the printer where the cables attach.

| Note the
arrow moulded into the plastic. Inside the case is a long plastic tab which
goes over a lug on the top cover. Gently push with the screwdriver and at
the same time pull the top of the case upwards. Take care because you are
only trying to lift it a few millimeters so that it disengages. You can't
pull it much further up because of the other clips holding the top cover
on. |

you should now have
the end of the cover a few millimeters raised, you need to keep it held
up like that while you move to the back of the printer and release the
next two clips. Look at the photo for their positions.
Keep the GENTLE upward
pressure on the top cover to stop it falling back into place and be GENTLE
when pushing the plastic clips.

and here's the other
end
You should now have
the top cover lifted slightly at the back, say about 25 to 50 mm. Next
you have to release the plastic clips at the front of the case. These
are not so easy.
Look at the photos

Here is the inside
of the base showing one of the lugs onto which the top cover latches -
the lugs are quite large and you'll find that the top cover is firmly
attached.
Best way to remove
the top is to fit the rear of the top cover GENTLY upwards, and at the
same time wiggle it from side to side. Great care is needed at this stage.
You may need to insert
a thin piece of plastic between the top and bottom covers to ease the
front clips off the lugs. If you do this USE PLASTIC NOT METAL so that
you don't damage the plastic case.
